Hey everyone, Laksh here!
In this post, I’m sharing how I built a super easy shelter for my first trek, using just a sheet and some sticks! You can also see it all come together in the video.
This is a perfect shelter for beginners like me who are just starting out with trekking and don’t want to mess with a complicated tent yet.
Building the Shelter
First, I figured out how the sticks would go. I wanted four tall ones standing up like a box, and instead of digging holes, I tied them to some strong trees nearby. This way, I kept things simple and didn’t need any tools.
Next, I grabbed a whole sheet and didn’t cut anything! I simply draped it over the frame I made with the sticks and trees. Then, I tied the sheet securely to the sticks around the top and sides to create a covered space.
For some extra sturdiness, I added two more sticks across the middle, like rungs on a ladder. This helped hold the sheet up and make the shelter feel more stable.
Shelter Tips
Here are some easy things to remember if you’re gonna build a shelter like this:
- Get a sheet that’s big enough to cover your whole shelter.
- Pick strong trees to tie your sticks to, so your shelter stays strong!
All Done!
With just a few sticks, some string, and a whole sheet, I made a handy shelter for my first adventure. This is a super simple way to get started with building your own little outdoor home.
